NEW YORK: The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has nominated Accused in the drama category for the 2011 International Emmy Awards, replacing Sherlock, which has been withdrawn from the competition.

Sherlock has been replaced due to a rules violation. The show had previously been entered by WGBH into the Primetime Emmy Awards in the U.S. According to the Academy’s rules, no program can be submitted for consideration in two Emmys competitions in the same year.

Accused, from the U.K.’s RSJ Films for BBC One, will face off in the category against Engrenage (Spiral) from Son et Lumiere for France’s Canal +, Sakanoue no Kumo (Cloud Above the Slopes) from Japan’s NHK and Under the Law, a production from Brazil’s TV Globo.
