BURBANK: ABC is set to launch a true-crime series, Final Witness, this summer, looking at shocking murder cases.

The seven-episode show premieres June 27 at 10 p.m. Each episode will focus on one case, using a mix of interviews with real-life witnesses, prosecutors, law enforcement, family and friends, plus reenactments of the crimes.

The first episode, "The Kids Aren’t Alright", focuses on a family that was murdered in their home in Texas in 2008. Terry Caffrey, whose wife and two young sons were killed, was able to escape and identify one of the perpetrators. “The Kids Aren’t Alright” originally aired as a backdoor pilot in September 2010.

Final Witness is produced for ABC by Lincoln Square Productions.
