ABC Expands Spanish-Dubbed Offerings

BURBANK, July 19: ABC has increased the number of its shows
that are dubbed into Spanish, adding, among others, the telenovela adaptation Ugly
Betty that launches this fall.

Desperate Housewives,
Lost, Grey's Anatomy, Dancing with the Stars, George Lopez and Ugly Betty will all
be available with Spanish dubbing. The remainder of the prime-time lineup is
available with Spanish-language subtitles.

Stephen McPherson, the president of ABC Entertainment,
noted, "Increasing the number of shows dubbed into Spanish reflects our
commitment to successfully connecting with the millions of Hispanics who watch
mostly or only Spanish-language television. Offering relatable programming is
how ABC continues to be on the forefront in reaching diverse segments of the
population. No other English language network serves the Spanish speaking
audience the way we do."
