Aardman Plans New Facility

BRISTOL, April 9: According to local reports, Aardman
Animations has been given the go ahead to build new headquarters, budgeted at
$10 million, next to its current base in Bristol.

The BBC reports that Bristol’s city council has greenlit
Aardman’s new three-story facility that will house about 200 of the studio’s
administrative, licensing and creative personnel employees. Construction is
expected to begin next year. The Banana Warehouse, next door, will continue to
be used as a studio, and for model making and production.

The news of the new headquarters follows reports that
Aardman has inked a new film deal with Sony Pictures, after its previous
agreement with DreamWorks was discontinued earlier this year.
