What are some of your top properties for MIPCOM?

We will be offering remakes of our major classic series which are currently in production and partly in development—the new modernized and revived animation series Maya the Bee, Vicky the Viking and Heidi. In addition we will also have new animation shows such as Enyo, Zeke’s Pad, Kerwhizz and Zigby.

Why will these programs appeal to buyers?

Our classics are very popular and have been watched by three generations. They are one of the leading brands in the German speaking territories, within Europe and internationally. We believe that the new modernized and revived classics will continue to be watched now and by future generations and appeal to buyers.

With multiple genres our shows offer many different formats and techniques ranging from for example animation, live action and a quiz show. We have character-driven stories offering comedy, action and adventure with strong storylines targeting both girls and boys. For preschoolers there’s fun, entertainment, memorable characters and engaging stories blended with educational elements. We intend to offer programming that has international appeal and which fits various age groups.

Billed as a "breakthrough multiplatform entertainment format" Kerwhizz is the first ever quiz show aimed at preschool children. The show combines a live action quiz featuring a real set, real kids and puppet teams which tranforms into an animated race sequence which will keep kids at home, online and in the studio guessing until the finish line. Visually stunning and packed with gags this series is tremendous fun and will appeal to children and grown-ups alike. Designed to be interactive Kerwhizz is a truly unique property.

Enyo is a powerful, epic fantasy series with remarkable images of a prehistoric world. Its story line full of fun and wild adventure will appeal to both boys and girls.

Zeke’s Padin 3D animation toonshader gives the show a very strong visual look. With its fast paced comedy, the series deals with the same problems that teens have today in a humorous way and hits the mark with its strong everyday youth cultural elements – for example music, ipod and skateboard.

Created by children’ author Brain Paterson and published by HarperCollins Children’s BooksZigbyis a colorful 3-D comedy/adventure series full of fun and surprises. The series will appeal to both children and adults because of its educational and entertainment qualities.

What are some of the trends you’re currently seeing in this market?

Due to the success of talent shows and daily soaps in ‘grown-up’/adult programming, there is now a huge demand for live-action programs for children and the pre-teen audience. Comedy, drama and series that deal with young media stars are the favourite products being requested by broadcasters.

The second trend is fast-paced, action-packed educational shows for preschoolers, using for example different kinds of vehicles or animals to teach and try out social skills amongst children.

Finally we are seeing a return to traditional characters and programs, mainly in the area of preschool programming. Renowned characters are starring in newly produced adventures that intentionally keep up the “retro”-appeal. Interestingly 3-D CGI seems to be one of the adequate new techniques to master this challenge. A state-of-the-art remake of the classic series Maya the Bee for example will be produced by Studio100 in this technique.

What are your goals and expectations MIPCOM?

Studio100 Media now has an extensive library of new and existing programming which we will be offering to buyers and we expect to sell our key properties into an increasing number of European markets and internationally. We will focus on offering remakes of our major classic series (currently in part development and production) Maya the Bee, Vicky the Viking and Heidiwhich have been and still are very popular today.
