2waytraffic Sells Trio of Game Shows into Egypt

HILVERSUM: The game-show formats Pyramid, 50-50 and Russian Roulette have been sold by 2waytraffic to Egyptian broadcaster ERTU.

Pyramid originally launched in the U.S. more than 30 years ago. The game show has since aired in 20 countries, including the U.K., Germany, Italy and France. The show pairs contestants with celebrities to describe words to each other, without actually saying the word itself. 50-50 has been a ratings success in Greece, Italy, Macedonia, Sweden, Spain and Japan. Contestants must display general knowledge and an understanding of their quiz partner, as they must estimate how many correct questions they’ve got right between them. The more they have correct, the higher the amount they can win. Russian Roulette has aired across 25 countries, including the U.K., the U.S. and Italy. Five contestants stand on raised platforms and take turns answered a series of questions, if they get one wrong, they pull a large lever that opens a mechanism below their feet. If they are lucky, nothing will happen, but if the revolving light stops on them, they will drop through the studio floor.

Ed Louwerse, the managing director of 2waytraffic International, said: “Pyramid, 50-50 and Russian Roulette, like many of the shows in our catalogue, are successful, well-established brands with enduring appeal. As this deal demonstrates, there is continued demand from broadcasters for shows that are a reliable investment with proven international success.”
