Pre-MIP Deals for CABLEready

NORWALK: CABLEready has secured a slew of international licensing deals ahead of MIPTV in territories such as the Netherlands, Australia and Israel.

SBS Netherlands, Sky New Zealand, Globosat in Brazil, Foxtel in Australia for the Crime & Investigation Network, and YES-DBS Satellite in Israel have all acquired the rights to Women Addicted to Sex. The one-hour documentary looks at four women who have struggled to overcome sexual addiction.

Zone Reality Channel and Foxtel in Australia for the Crime & Investigation Network went for Women on Death Row: Part 4, a 90-minute program spotlighting three women who are set for execution. Foxtel in Australia for the Crime & Investigation Network also picked up the rights for Women Behind Bars: Season 2, exploring the wide range of motivations that compel females to commit murder; Chain Gang Girls 2, about a group of women working side by side doing time; Dominick Dunne’s Power Privilege and Justice, giving the story on notorious and scandalous cases happening in high society; and Forensic Files: Season 13, where each episode profiles crimes where science catches the bad guy.

Sky Network Television from New Zealand bagged the rights to Women of the Occult, which follows three women and their experiences in different aspects of the spiritual realm, and TV’s Sexiest Stars, in which actors, comics and TV insiders review the sexiest men and women in television history. Also included in the deal is Women Addicted to Sex.

Kanal 5 in Sweden, Noga in Israel, EBS in Korea, Mediacorp TV 12 in Singapore and Pramer in Latin America for the Film & Arts Channel all acquired Inside the Actor’s Studio, an interview series hosted by James Lipton, Dean Emeritus of The Actors Studio.

TVN based in Poland snapped up World of Wealth, a series focused on the philosophy of money and affluence, and Let’s Shop, a whirlwind tour of the most exclusive and famous shopping destinations the world has to offer. 

Discovery International renewed its rights to Trauma: Life in the E.R., which documents the experience of being inside a hospital emergency room. NTV, based in Japan, acquired the rights to Demolition Dynasty, exploring the science behind how a building is imploded and how explosives work to bring them down; World Cyber Games, following the journey of a South Korean computer-game champion; and Stuntmen of Bollywood, looking at the Bollywood film industry and how it relies less on the high-tech gadgetry of its American counterpart Hollywood.

Digital Chosun in Korea bagged Dealflow, following the real-life partners of an investment-banking firm as they crisscross the globe in search of the next great deal. Canada’s Canal D gained the rights for Medical Detectives, while Australia’s XYZ Networks went for Christmas Out of the Box, an hour-long documentary special that looks at the mysteries behind some of our most traditional celebrations. Canal + Poland’s Kuchina TV Channel went for NY TIMES SHORT-FORM: The Minimalist, in which Mark Bittman showcases one easy, unique recipe each week.
