Cake Takes Animated Surf Comedy

LONDON: Cake Entertainment has been appointed worldwide distributor of Fresh TV’s new animated surf comedy Stoked.

Developed by Fresh TV for TELETOON in Canada, Stoked is a character-driven animated sitcom about six teenagers who come together one summer to work (and surf) at the world renowned Surfer’s Paradise Resort. The series was created and written by Tom McGillis and Jennifer Pertsch at Fresh TV, and is aimed at 8- to 12-year-olds.

This is the third tween series to come to Cake from Fresh TV, following the animated reality-TV spoof series Total Drama Island and its spin-off series Total Drama Action.

Tom van Waveren, the creative director of Cake, said: "Stoked is a fantastic property, being both entertaining and relevant to today’s tween audience; this is the kind of exciting show that CAKE prides itself on being involved with. This deal further solidifies our successful relationship with Fresh TV, and enables us to build on the huge success of Total Drama Island."

Tom McGillis, the executive producer of Fresh TV, added: "Fresh TV knows the teen and tween audience and we work tirelessly to create programming that speaks to them. The animation for Stoked is nothing short of
groundbreaking and we are so pleased that Cake will help bring this new show to tweens around the globe and they have done so well before."
