ITV1 Commissions Britain's Biggest Loser

LONDON, November 14: The
hit reality show The Biggest Loser is
heading to ITV1's daytime lineup in a new daily stripped format, produced by
Shine.

Britain's Biggest Loser will air as a daily show, featuring overweight
people who are challenged to undergo dramatic physical change through hard
work, a strict diet and regular exercise. Contestants will live and work
together for several weeks to see who can lose the most weight, with the help
of trainers.

The original series has
been a hit worldwide, airing in more than 90 countries and produced in 25
countries, including the U.S., Australia, Brazil and the Middle East. Britain's Biggest Loser has been
developed from the American format, which includes multiple spin-off series
such as The Biggest Loser Family.

Adam McDonald, the
controller of daytime at ITV, said: "I'm thrilled that this global smash
is now coming to ITV1. The phrase 'life-changing show' is overused in telly but
this compassionate, compelling format does just that."

Karen Smith, the executive
producer for Shine, said, "Britain's
Biggest Loser
is much more than a reality show, it is a daily, real-life
soap opera with inspiring personal journeys and unbelievable transformations
which are life changing. Following on from the U.S. success we hope to develop
an online community around the show allowing viewers to positively interact
with the show."
