NGCI Sets Weeklong Live Broadcast from South Africa

WASHINGTON, D.C., October 9: National Geographic Channels
International has commissioned Aquavision TV Productions to produce Caught on Safari: Live!, a weeklong real-time broadcast from Kruger National
Park in South Africa that will be available in 166 countries worldwide.

Airing in November on National Geographic Channel and Nat
Geo Wild, as well as online at natgeotv.com, the special will feature 28 hours
of up-close encounters with some of Africa’s most exotic creatures. Viewers can
learn about Africa’s conservation issues and initiatives taking place within
the Kruger National Park, with insight game rangers and wildlife trackers, as
well as veterinarians.

“There are few things more exhilarating than seeing a lion
pride on the hunt or more moving than the bond between mother and baby impala
in the first few moments after birth,” said Sydney Suissa, the executive VP of
content for NGCI. “The prospect of enabling viewers to be part of encounters
like these in real time is what makes Caught on Safari: Live! an unforgettable and rewarding television experience.”

“For the last 25 years I have been doing safaris around
Africa, exploring some of the most beautiful places,” commented Peter Lamberti,
the CEO of Aquavision TV Productions. “And I know that it is only the rich few
that get to experience this due to the cost. So I wanted to make a virtual
safari experience where viewers from anywhere on earth can tap into and
experience that wealth of information shared by the game guide and coupled with
the anticipation of what a safari can offer.”
