Celebrity Big Brother 2008 Axed

LONDON, August 24: Channel 4 has cancelled the 2008 season
of Celebrity Big Brother in the wake of
the racial conflict between two cast members last season.

The celebrity version of the reality series has run for five
seasons and lasts for three weeks at the beginning of the year. A decision
about whether the reality show will return in 2009 will be made next year.

According to local reports, spending on U.S. shows will be
reduced by around £10 million to create funding for new programs, with new
commissions for 2008 to include The Family,
an observational documentary series looking at 21st century family life, and
Channel 4's Big Art project,
which will develop and fund new public art projects around the U.K.
