Channel 4 Commissions Churchill Docudrama

LONDON, August 27: Flame
TV has been commissioned by Channel 4 to produce a one-hour drama documentary
that explores the story of Winston Churchill’s mother, Lady Randolph Churchill,
nicknamed Lady Jane Snatcher.

Lady Randy: Churchill’s
Mother
will look at the scandalous
exploits of the woman who raised the powerful leader. The doc will air this
fall, and is produced and directed by Robert Coldstream, executive produced by
Roger Bolton for Flame TV and Elizabeth Hartford for Channel 4.

Bolton, Flame TV’s
chairman, said: “I always wondered why Sir Winston, born into the heart of the
aristocracy, was regarded by the Tory party as an outsider, a dangerous risk
taker, and by some a ‘mongrel half breed.’ I wondered from where he got his
phenomenal energy, his refusal never to give up, his astonishing resilience and
his love of luxury. The answer is Jennie.”
