Revenues Up 25 Percent for Liberty Global

ENGLEWOOD, August 6: For
the second quarter, revenues at Liberty Global were $2.73 billion, 25-percent
higher than the same period last year, with a net profit of $428 million, as
compared with last year’s loss of $130 million.

At the end of the quarter,
the company had 16.1 million customers, subscribing to 24.7 million services.
Of the total customer base, video accounts for 59 percent (14.7 million RGUs),
broadband Internet 23 percent (5.7 million) and telephony 17 percent (4.3
million).

UPC Broadband generated
revenues of $1.2 billion in the period, a 23.1-percent increase, with $818.6
million coming from Western Europe and $362.2 million from Central and Eastern
Europe. The segment had a total of 9.6 million customers at the end of the
period.

Telenet in Belgium had
revenues of $387.9 million, with 2 million customers, while J:COM in Japan
posted revenues of $691.1 million, reporting a total of 2.8 million customers.
In Chile, VTR’s revenues gained 26 percent to $194.6 million, with a customer
base of 1 million.
