CBS News to Launch International Version of 60 Minutes

NEW YORK, June 20: CBS
News is marketing an international version of the 40-year-old newsmagazine 60
Minutes
, according to Reuters,
combining two pieces from the U.S. edition with a segment done by a local crew.

60 Minutes already airs in some 50 countries in various
guises. For example, Australia's Nine Network licenses the ticking 60
Minutes
clock for its own version,
but it's not the same show.

Jeff Fager, 60 Minutes’ executive producer, told Reuters that each
program would be tailored to the country in which it airs, not necessarily with
stories from that week's 60 Minutes
but perhaps from another time during the season. Fager noted that 60 Minutes would also control the broadcast and hire the
local crew.
