Globo TV’s Amazonia Heads to Canada

RIO DE JANEIRO, May 9:
Globo TV International has closed a broadcast deal for its mini-series Amazonia with Rogers in Canada.

The mini-series premiered
in Canada and is also airing in Romania and Nicaragua, both in prime time. Amazonia has been sold into Mozambique, Portugal, Armenia,
Chile, Bulgaria, Israel, Venezuela and Ecuador. Amazonia will be a part of Globo’s portfolio of new
programming at the L.A. Screenings next week.

From Glória Perez, the
writer behind the hit The Clone,
Amazonia is shot in the largest
tropical rainforest in the world and chronicles the struggle of men who
dedicated their lives to fight for the preservation of the environment. Amazonia scored three nominations as a semifinalist in the
2007 International Emmys: best mini-series, best actor for José Wilker (Her
Own Destiny
) and best actress for
Débora Bloch. The cast also includes Giovanna Antonelli (The Clone), Christiane Torloni (Women in Love) and Vera Fisher (Family Ties).
