PorchLight Picks Up U.S. DVD Rights to Animalia

LOS ANGELES, May 6: PorchLight Home Entertainment (PHE) has
taken on the U.S. DVD distribution rights to Animalia, based on the illustrated children’s alphabet book
by Graeme Base.

Animalia is currently
airing on Animania HD and PBS in the U.S., BBC in the U.K. and CBC in Canada.
The series journeys through the world of talking animals, highlighting
character traits such as cooperation, persistence and creativity, while also
promoting literacy.

The first title scheduled for release, Animalia: Welcome
to the Kingdom, includes the episodes “Hello,
We Must be Going,” “Goodbye, We Must be Staying,” “Forget-Me-Not” and “The Mist
of Time.” The preorder date is set for August 20, with a street date of
September 23.

Gary Jones, the president of PHE, commented: “This further
expands our commitment to the marketplace and the strength of our release
schedule as PorchLight Home Entertainment continues its aggressive acquisition
of strong, branded television programming for release on DVD and Blu-ray
disc.”
