Premiere Star Ramps Up Sports Offerings

MUNICH, April 24: Germany’s Premiere Star will add an
18th channel to its programming package, Eurosport 2, which will feature the
latest sport news highlights and more than 1,300 hours of live international
sport coverage.

Eurosport 2 will launch on
Premiere Star on May 29. The sports coverage includes team
events such as the EHF Champions League in handball, the ULEB Cup in basketball
and the CEV Champions League in volleyball, as well as tennis, winter sports,
youth sports and motorsports like the Le Mans series.

Günther Picker, a member
of the management board at Premiere Star, commented: “Sports enthusiasts will
find Premiere Star even more attractive now that we have added Eurosport 2 to
the package. The new channel offers our younger viewers in particular plenty to
get excited about.”

Peter Schulz, the senior
manager for product and acquisitions at Premiere Star, added: “On top of the
existing range of U.S. sport shown on the network, Premiere Star will soon
broadcast more international sport highlights and types of sport than have ever
been seen before on German television. Eurosport 2 is the perfect complement to
our portfolio.”

Premiere Star offers the
program packages Premiere Thema and Premiere Star. Premiere Star’s 17-channel
package includes content such as live U.S. sports, comedy, children’s
programming, top feature films, lifestyle and entertainment. It is distributed
via satellite and reaches 18.5 million households in Germany and Austria. The
digital channel Eurosport 2 is part of the Eurosport Group. It is currently
broadcast in 11 different languages and received in 30 million households in 43
countries.
