Report: TF1 Sues YouTube

PARIS, April 17: According
to published reports, market-leading French broadcaster TF1 is suing the
video-sharing site YouTube, seeking damages of 100 million euros.

The news was reported on
the website of French business daily Les Echos yesterday, quoting a YouTube spokesperson. The suit
comes just a few months after TF1 targeted another popular video-sharing site,
Dailymotion, headquartered in France but available in more than 20 countries.
Dailymotion is said to have a larger share than YouTube of the online video
market in France. TF1 levied a 40-million-euros suit against the site, alleging
copyright infringement.

YouTube is already facing
a $1-billion copyright infringement suit from Viacom.
