Alchemy Reality Inks New Co-Pro, Representation Deals

LONDON, April 5: Alchemy Reality, Alchemy Television
Group’s non-scripted division, has linked up with Hallock Healey Entertainment
to develop and produce You Won!, a
new daytime game show, and has also agreed to represent three game-show formats
from Ireland’s
Green Inc. Film and TV.

You Won!
is a half-hour daily game show in which the host shows up on the doorstep of an
unsuspecting contestant with the announcement, “You won!.” The challenge is
that the contestant now has just two minutes to query the host and discover the
precise nature of the prize. Guessing correctly means keeping the prize, but
the right answer must be specific.

Hallock Healey
Entertainment, founded by Scott Hallock and Kevin Healey, has produced reality
shows for a wide range of American broadcasters, including the SCI-FI Channel’s
Scare Tactics and NBC’s 25 Million Dollar Hoax.

Mike Beale, the managing
director of Alchemy Reality, commented: “When I met Scott and Kevin, I was
immediately impressed by their fresh ideas—few other producers have such a
talent for developing a format that’s so simple—so instantly understandable—and
yet so clever. We hope this is the beginning of a very fruitful relationship
for both Alchemy and Hallock Healey.”

Additionally, Alchemy
Reality will represent three game-show formats from Ireland’s Green Inc. Film and TV: It’s Not the Answer, Last Chance to Win and Buy It, Cook It, Sell It.

It’s Not the Answer is a half-hour, studio-based quiz show that
originally ran on RTE in Ireland
for more than 100 episodes from 2000 to 2002, regularly achieving an average
share of more than 30 percent. Each question is presented to the contestant
with five possible answers, which are eliminated one by one. As each answer
disappears, the points the contestants stand to win are also diminished. The
computer-generated graphic that ticks away the answers and points encourages
audiences at home to play along—or mimic the voiceover that announces “It’s
not…” as each answer is removed. The format also had a 44-episode run on ITV1
in the U.K.
in 2001. Based on the hit Channel 4 show Last
Chance Lottery
, Last Chance to Win
is another studio-based game, in which the unluckiest losers finally get a shot
to cash in. Finally, Buy It, Cook It,
Sell It
is a daily cookery competition show in which two contestants are
given a small budget to spend at a local produce market. They must plan a
recipe, find the ingredients, and then cook it on site. They’re each given a
stall from which to peddle their wares, and the one who makes the most money
wins the game and takes home their profits.
