Globo Celebrates Post-NATPE Deals

SÃO PAULO, February 26: Globo TV International has scored a host of deals in the weeks since NATPE, signing up several markets for its slate of telenovelas.

Pages of Life was bought by Bolivia, Venezuela, Argentina, Ecuador, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Peru and Uruguay, and is still being negotiated with three other countries. Venezuela, Bolivia, Nicaragua and Uruguay bought Tropical Paradise, while Little Missy and Seven Sins were sold to three countries. The mini-series Amazonia, Gloria Perez’s new production, was negotiated with Chile and Venezuela.

While novelas have been key to Globo’s business, the Brazilian distributor showcased a diverse portfolio with 12 new titles at NATPE across drama, comedy and factual. “We showed our clients we’re a multiplatform content distributor,” said Raphael Corrêa Netto, the international sales director. “As well as the excellence and recognition in producing telenovelas, we also have a vast portfolio in other formats, such as documentaries, comedy series, mini-series and fiction series, many of them Emmy nominated.”

Globo DOC, the first series of documentaries exclusively designed and produced by Globo for the international market, was one of the highlights at NATPE. Talks are under way with several outlets in the U.S.
