History Makers to Present Awards to Cronkite, Burns

TORONTO, January 15: Walter Cronkie and The War’s Ken
Burns and Lynn Novick are set to receive awards at the History Makers
Summit 2008 in New York City on January 18.

Burns and Novick are receiving the Best Program Award for
their landmark PBS series The War. This
award recognizes the series or special that has made the most public impact,
advances the history genre and exemplifies the highest production values. Six
years in the making, the seven-part The War explores World War II by following the fortunes of
ordinary men and women in four American towns.

Cronkite is to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, which
recognizes an individual who has exhibited the highest qualities and
consistently achieved excellence in performing their services to history and
current-affairs programming. Sir David Frost will be presenting the Lifetime
Achievement Award.
