Imira Entertainment Notches New Spanish Sales

BARCELONA, November 26: Imira
Entertainment, formerly known as Icon Animation, has closed a series of sales
in Spain for its kids’ programming library.

Imira Entertainment has
partnered with ZDF Enterprises to place two of its shows on Spanish public
broadcaster RTVE. RTVE has acquired the 52×26-minute Wicked Science for TV2 and Clan TV and the 13×26-minute The
Lost Treasure of Fiji
for Clan TV.
Both series are from award-winning Australian producer Jonathan M. Shiff and
co-produced by ZDF, ZDF Enterprises and Network Ten. Through the partnership
with ZDF, this deal represents Imira Entertainment’s first live-action distribution
agreement.

The Disney Channel Spain
has picked up the 52×2-minute animated series Ozie Boo, Learn To Live Together for its Playhouse Disney Channel. The
penguin-themed preschool series is produced by Cyber Group Animation.

In Portugal, Imira has
scored a free-TV deal with RTP for Millimages’ 39×26-minute Pitt &
Kantrop
, alongside DVD deals with
LNK for Lola & Virginia and
with Prisvideo for 64 Zoo Lane,
also from Millimages.

In a further deal, Jetix’s
new girl-skewing magazine Jetix Chic!, which has a circulation of more than 100,000 in Spain, has signed a
deal to feature Lola & Virginia
in each monthly issue. The series airs in Spain on The Disney Channel as well
as RTVE, TV3 and ETB. Imira has also made further sales of Lola &
Virginia
with TV Andorra and
Digiturk in Turkey.

Christophe Goldberger, the
head of distribution and marketing at Imira Entertainment, said: “We have had
an excellent 2007 with both our production and distribution departments going
from strength to strength. It is a natural step for us to extend our activities
into new areas including live action, mirroring the changing nature of kids’
entertainment, and we feel that our rebrand and new name, which is based on the
Spanish for ‘see’, reflects the developing nature of our business.”
