AXN Beyond to Air Life on Mars

HONG KONG: The American adaptation of Life on Mars, about a New York Police Department detective who gets transported back into the ’70s, will premiere May 5 on AXN Beyond in Asia, airing Tuesdays at 9 p.m., first and exclusively.

A police procedural with a time-travel twist, Life on Mars is co-produced by Kudos Film & Television, Twentieth Century Fox Television and ABC Studios. The show is based on a BBC series of the same name.

Life on Mars follows detective Sam Tyler, who gets hit by a car while chasing a criminal and awakes inexplicably as a contemporary detective, newly-transferred to New York City’s 125th Precinct in the year 1973. In the absence of 21st-century technologies—mobile phone, computer, and PDA—Tyler is forced to rely on his wits when he is offered opportunities to delve into the origins of some cases he encountered in modern-day New York. Throughout the series, strange visions and phone calls connect back to present dat, as Tyler struggles to figure out what happened.

AXN Beyond, which features a mix of paranormal, sci-fi, suspense, horror and mystery/fantasy entertainment, airs across the Philippines, Hong Kong and Singapore.
