Warner Sisters, Granada to Adapt New Martina Cole Titles

LONDON, November 1: British independent production outfit
Warner Sisters Productions and Granada International have inked a development
deal for two television movies based on author Martina Cole’s most recent
novels: The Graft and The
Take.

Granada International will take on the worldwide
distribution rights to The Graft and The
Take
. The company already holds
distribution rights for the Cole adaptations Dangerous Lady and The Jump, which were also produced by Warner Sisters for ITV.

Both The Graft and The
Take
went straight to number one in the
U.K.’s Sunday Times bestseller
list on publication, with
The Graft topping the hardback charts for a record-breaking ten
weeks.

“Martina Cole is simply a publishing phenomenon,” said Noel
Hedges, the head of drama at Granada International. “Her books go straight to
the top of the bestseller lists and stay there. At their heart Martina’s novels
contain gripping, highly commercial plots and characters that appeal to lovers
of crime the world over. We’re very excited at the prospect of having further
titles to add to the other adaptations we already distribute.”
