Sesame Workshop Premieres First Sesame Street Video Podcast

NEW YORK, September 19:
Sesame Workshop has introduced a weekly video podcast based on the
award-winning preschool series Sesame Street, available for download as of yesterday.

Episodes are available at
www.sesameworkshop.org/podcasts or the iTunes Podcast Directory. The episodes
are free and viewers can sign up to have the five-minute weekly podcast
automatically delivered to their video-enabled iPods or other portable media
players. Each episode has been newly created for the podcast, and features
scenes from current and past seasons of Sesame Street, as well as animation and live-action films. In
focusing on literacy and vocabulary building, the first podcasts will feature
the new “What’s the Word on the Street?” segments, which introduce 26 new words
to help reinforce language development.

“In previous research,
Sesame Workshop has learned that parents are eager to have portable educational
media content that they can use with their young children at any time and
wherever they might be—helping to fill time on a car ride or while waiting
in line at the grocery store while building children's literacy skills at the
same time,” said Dr. Glenda Revelle, the VP for research/creative development
and digital media at Sesame Workshop.
