Lionsgate in Pact with Vertigo

SANTA MONICA/VANCOUVER, June 27: Lionsgate has signed a
television development deal with Roy Lee and Doug Davison's Vertigo
Entertainment, which has become known for producing U.S. remakes of Asian
films, resulting in The Ring, The
Grudge and The Departed, among others.

The deal covers scripted programming for both broadcast and
cable, and expands the existing relationship between the two companies for The
Eye, a thriller produced with
Cruise/Wagner, starring Jessica Alba and directed by French filmmakers David
Moreau and Xavier Palud.

Kevin Beggs, Lionsgate's president of television programming
and production, commented: “Roy and Doug have tremendous creative instincts,
outstanding relationships within the industry and the proven ability to
recognize, acquire and develop high quality material with widespread appeal. We
look forward to a productive and rewarding relationship as we work together to
produce exciting television."

While film constitutes the bulk of Vertigo’s business, it
recently entered the TV arena, led by executive Gabriel Mason, producing I'm
With Rolling Stone alongside Wenner Media
for MTV. Vertigo’s first foray into scripted television will be The
Bates Motel, a re-imagining of the classic
horror property Psycho; and a
high stakes gambling drama created by writer Matt O'Neal.
