CBS to Charge $2.6 Million for Super Bowl Spot

NEW YORK, January 4:
According to CNN, CBS is asking for $2.6 million per 30-second spot during the
Super Bowl on February 4, up from last year’s record-breaking $2.5 million per
spot on ABC.

John Bogusz, the executive
VP for sports sales and marketing for CBS, confirmed to CNNMoney.com that some
advertisers are paying in excess of $2.6 million for the coveted Super Bowl
slots. In 2006, the game was watched by a whopping 90.7 million viewers, the
event’s largest audience since 1996, when it was watched by an average of 94.1
million viewers.

"I'm hearing a rate
of $2.6 million but how many advertisers actually will be paying that is tough
to gauge,” Jordan Breslow, the director of broadcast research with MediaCom,
told CNN. “Most people get some sort of discount.”
