IFC Bolsters Anime Slate

DALLAS/NEW YORK, December 5: The Independent Film Channel (IFC)
has bolstered its anime offerings with two further acquisitions from FUNimation
Entertainment: Basilisk and Gunslinger
Girl
.

Both are slated to launch in January as part of a one-hour
anime block leading into the new Friday night line-up dubbed Grindhouse. The acquisition follows IFC’s successful broadcast
of another show distributed in the U.S. by FUNimation: Samurai 7.

"IFC values the opinions of our viewers, and proven by
our popular film strands Samurai Saturdays
and Indie Screams, anime and horror
are two genres that our viewers continue to enjoy and request," said Evan
Shapiro, the EVP and GM of IFC. "With the addition of these programs to
our expanding slate of original series and docs, IFC is delivering on its
commitment to increasing the original and serial programming on the
network."
