Francis Coady, former chief marketing and content officer at Havas Media Australia (Vivendi), has launched the Sydney-based venture Grand Pacific Entertainment, with strategic representation by William Morris Endeavor (WME).

The new company aims to develop and fund scripted drama, documentaries, comedy, branded content, music and podcasts while continuing to shine a light on Australia’s talent pool.

Coady has over two decades of industry experience in film, TV, digital streaming and music. He was the founder and executive producer of the Bondi Short Film Festival for 13 years and mentored emerging film directors, screenwriters and producers. He also worked at Merchantwise Group, where he forged partnerships with major film studios such as Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox and Paramount.

During his time in the music industry, Coady managed the rock group Thirsty Merc and the children’s group Hi-5, achieving milestones such as double-platinum albums and multi-episode and film deals with Nickelodeon, Hoyts and Network 10 (Paramount).

Most recently, Coady launched and oversaw Havas Sports & Entertainment group, where he created and executive produced The Long Road, starring Australian talents Guy Sebastian and Amy Shark.

“I’ve been a passionate writer and executive producer and was delighted when WME decided to represent my company’s development slate,” Coady said. “My aim is to help develop premium content that reaches as wide audiences as possible.”
