Series Mania Forum Announces Selected Co-Pro Projects, Jury Members

Laurence Herszberg, founder and general director of Series Mania, has revealed the 16 projects selected to be pitched during the Series Mania Forum professional event at next month’s festival.

Nearly 400 projects from 41 different countries were submitted to Series Mania Forum’s Co-Pro Pitching Sessions for consideration. The goal of the forum, which will run March 25 to 27, is to help these high-end European and international drama projects find potential financial partners.

The official selections from the Co-Pro Pitching Sessions that are now eligible for a best project prize include French projects Femen and Purple, from Wild Horses and Mother Production in co-production with Silex Films, respectively. Other selections include Capital Punishment (Black Sheep Film Productions, Israel); Extravagance (Les Films du Trèfle, AT-Production, Zeitsprung Pictures; France, Belgium, Germany); Faraya (Déjà Vu Beirut Sarl, Lebanon); Gymnasts (Indigo Film, Italy); Influence (Studio Lambert, U.K.); Low Season (Akka Films, Switzerland); Reset (Brutal Media, Spain); Ride Out (Funfar Films Oy, Finland); The Attack (Network Movie Film; Germany, France); The Dreamers (Deux Beaux Garçons Films, Israel); The Fortress (Maipo Film, Norway); The Kollective (Submarine; Netherlands, U.S.); and The Rise & Fall of the Somali Pirates (De Mensen, Reel One Entertainment; Belgium, U.K.).

Out of competition, in partnership with Co-Pro Series of Berlinale Drama Series Days, there is Big Bones from Austria’s Satel Film in co-production with Superfilm.

A five-member jury will determine the best project among the 16 Co-Pro Pitching Sessions projects, with a grand prize award of €50,000 ($56,750) going to the winning show. The 2019 international jury of industry professionals includes: jury president Meghan Lyvers, senior VP of co-production and development at CBS Studios International in the U.S.; Nathalie Biancolli, director of acquisitions and international fiction at France Télévisions; Anne Croneman, head of program film and TV drama for SVT in Sweden; Caroline Torrance, head of scripted at Banijay Rights in the U.K.; and Christian Vesper, executive VP and creative director for global drama at U.K.-based Fremantle.

Series Mania is set to take place in Lille, France, March 22 to 30.
