The Assassination of Gianni Versace Tops Golden Globe TV Nominations

The nominations for the 76th Golden Globes have been announced, with The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story leading in the TV arena with a total of four nods.

The Americans, Barry, Homecoming, The Kominsky Method, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Sharp Objects and A Very English Scandal followed with three nominations each.

By network, FX leads with ten total nominations, followed by HBO and Prime Video, each with nine. Netflix notched up eight nominations.

The nominees for best TV drama are The AmericansBodyguardHomecoming, Killing Eve and Pose. For musical or comedy, the TV nominees are BarryThe Good PlaceKiddingThe Kominsky Method and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The nominated programs for limited series/TV movie are The AlienistThe Assassination of Gianni VersaceEscape at DannemoraSharp Objects and A Very English Scandal.

On the performance side for television nominations, best actress in a drama nods went to Caitriona Balfe for Outlander, Elisabeth Moss for The Handmaid’s Tale, Sandra Oh for Killing Eve, Julia Roberts for Homecoming and Keri Russell for The Americans. The best actor nominees for TV drama are Jason Bateman for Ozark, Stephan James for Homecoming, Richard Madden for Bodyguard, Billy Porter for Pose and Matthew Rhys for The Americans. For comedy/musical series, actress nods went to Kristen Bell for The Good Place, Candice Bergen for Murphy Brown, Alison Brie for GLOW, Rachel Brosnahan for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Debra Messing for Will & Grace. On the actor side of the comedy/musical series category, the nominees are Sacha Baron Cohen for Who Is America?, Jim Carrey for Kidding, Michael Douglas for The Kominsky Method, Donald Glover for Atlanta and Bill Hader for Barry.

For limited series/TV movies, the best actress nominees are Amy Adams for Sharp Objects, Patricia Arquette for Escape at Dannemora, Connie Britton for Dirty John, Laura Dern for The Tale and Regina King for Seven Seconds. The best actor nods in the category went to Antonio Banderas for Genius: Picasso, Daniel Brühl for The Alienist, Darren Criss for The Assassination of Gianni Versace, Benedict Cumberbatch for Patrick Melrose and Hugh Grant for A Very English Scandal.

Supporting performance nominations for series, limited series or TV movie include Alex Bornstein for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Patricia Clarkson for Sharp Objects, Penelope Cruz for The Assassination of Gianni Versace, Thandie Newton of Westworld and Yvonne Strahovski for The Handmaid’s Tale as actresses. The best supporting actor TV nominees are Alan Arkin for The Kominsky Method, Kieran Culkin for Succession, Edgar Ramirez for The Assassination of Gianni Versace, Ben Whishaw for A Very English Scandal and Henry Winkler for Barry.

Motion picture nominations are led by Vice (6), The Favourite (5), Green Book (5) and A Star Is Born (5).

The 76th Golden Globes will take place on January 6, 2019, to be hosted by Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg.
