FilmRise Adds Rubén Imaz’s Tormentero to Catalog

FilmRise has acquired Tormentero, a mystical film starring Jose Carlos Ruiz and directed by Rubén Imaz (Familia Tortuga, Epitafio).

Tormentero centers on a retired, alcoholic fisherman who is haunted by his past and suffering from schizophrenia. The movie, the title of which translates to “stormmaker,” is in Spanish with English subtitles. FilmRise picked up the rights for Tormentero from IM Global’s Mundial division.

Cristina Garza, Mundial’s general manager, remarked: “We are thrilled to continue our partnership with FilmRise, who have previously acquired I Dream in Another Language, Don’t Swallow My Heart, Alligator Girl! and Divine Divas.”
