Sony Pictures Television Names New Distribution SVP

LONDON: Mark Young has become the senior VP of distribution for the U.K., Africa and Ireland at Sony Pictures Television (SPT).

In his new role, Young is charged with overseeing and expanding all SPT distribution activity across the U.K., Africa and Ireland. He will work out of London under Mike Wald, the company's executive VP of international distribution. His duties include managing all film and TV licensing negotiations for SPT across all broadcasters and digital platforms. He will collaborate with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment across online, VOD and SVOD.

Young previously served as SPT's senior VP of distribution for Australia and New Zealand. Before that, he was the company's VP of distribution. Earlier in his career, he worked for such companies as ChelloMedia Enterprises, British Sky Broadcasting and Granada Sky Broadcasting.

"Mark has 20 years' experience in the TV industry with an impressive track record of growing our sales and distribution business in a number of territories around the world," said Wald. "He is returning to the European team to lead our distribution activity in these priority markets at an incredibly exciting time for the business."
