LOS ANGELES: A deal between Hulu and Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution is set to bring a range of FX originals, including Tyrant and The Strain, to the streaming service, as well as the upcoming FOX event series Wayward Pines.

The deal announced today covers the exclusive SVOD rights to new and upcoming FX and FXX titles produced or co-produced by FX Productions (FXP). Current seasons of FX shows will remain accessible to authenticated pay-TV subs via the FXNOW app.

Included in the new pact are the first seasons of Tyrant, The Strain, Married and You’re the Worst, which will be accessible to Hulu Plus subs ahead of the season two premieres. Subsequent seasons will also be carried on Hulu.

New FX Networks shows that will be exclusive to the platform in the SVOD window include Man Seeking Woman, The Comedians, Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll, Taboo and Baskets.

Hulu has also nabbed the exclusive SVOD rights to Wayward Pines, the M. Night Shyamalan series premiering on FOX in the U.S. and FIC globally this May. It also scored non-exclusive rights to prior seasons of Sons of Anarchy, American Horror Story, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Louie, Archer, The League and Wilfred.

“FX Productions shares the same commitment to creating and distributing distinctive, high quality programming that we do here at Hulu," said Craig Erwich, senior VP and head of content at Hulu. "We are thrilled to begin this partnership, which will add a wide variety of popular series, and fresh, yet-to-air series to our ever expanding roster of great content.”

"We're delighted to partner with Hulu on this exciting and groundbreaking deal," said Gina Brogi, executive VP of worldwide pay TV and SVOD at Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution. "It will not only expand the audience reach for much of the terrific FX and FXX programming, but does so in a way that represents how traditional TV and emerging platforms, such as Hulu, can work together and leverage their respective strengths, to satisfy the ever changing viewing habits of the audience."

“Our new partnership with Hulu is a milestone that we have been building toward for the past decade,” said Eric Schrier, president of original programming at FX Networks and FX Productions. “This landmark deal speaks to the quality of the FX roster of original series as well as the importance and growth of our in-house production unit FXP. This partnership is an integral component to our future and will allow us to continue to expand our original programming offerings.”
