Imira Scores Deals for The Smurfs

BARCELONA: Imira Entertainment has secured sales in Latin America and Iberia for the animated series The Smurfs from distributor IMPS, including a deal with Cartoon Network in Spain.

Cartoon Network picked up 104 episodes of The Smurfs, comprised of 256 26-minute episodes, for free and pay TV. Further free-TV deals have been signed with UCV Televisión in Chile (78 episodes), Televisora de Costa Rica (120 episodes) and Ecuador’s RTV (163 episodes). In Portugal, the pay-TV channel SIC acquired 26 episodes. Imira represents rights in Iberia and Latin America (with the exception of Mexico and Brazil) to the classic show.

Christophe Goldberger, the head of distribution and marketing at Imira Entertainment said, “Everyone’s favorite blue characters are heading to new Spanish-speaking markets and we are sure that it will be a welcome addition to television screens in Spain, Latin America and Portugal. It’s a classic property whose popularity shows no signs of slowing down—much like The Smurfs themselves!”
