New Musical for Disney Channel

BURBANK: Disney Channel has ordered a music-driven pilot, Zombies and Cheerleaders, for consideration to develop a series for the 2012 schedule. 

The pilot, which heads into production in December, features Zed Necrodopolis. Zed is an ordinary high-school student, who also happens to be a zombie. He and his zombie friends are unpopular with the school’s most influential group, the cheerleaders. Zed seeks to improve the zombie’s relationship with the other stuents, and with the heart of the cheerleading squad’s newest member. 

The pilot is executive produced by Eric Weinberg (Scrubs, Death Valley) and was written by Joseph Raso and David Light who also serve as co-executive producers. Todd Strauss Schulson (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) will direct the pilot.
