Showtime Orders Trio of Pilots

LOS ANGELES: Showtime has ordered three new pilots, including Gurland on Gurland, a comedy executive produced by and starring Andrew Gurland.

Gurland, co-writer on The Last Exorcism, stars in the pilot, produced by CBS Television Studios. Glenn Gordon Caron (Medium, Moonlighting) will also executive produce. The first-person documentary comedy will reflect the family and professional life of Gurland, as he pursues the next phase of his career.

The drama Masters of Sex is written by Michelle Ashford (The Pacific), who will also executive produce alongside Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly (Justified). From Sony Pictures Television, the series is based on the lives and unusual relationship that existed between two people, the pioneers of the science of human sexuality. It is an adaptation of the book Masters of Sex: The Life and Times of William Masters and Virginia Johnson, the Couple Who Taught America How to Love, by Thomas Maier.

The drama Ray Donovan is created, written and executive produced by Ann Biderman (Southland). Mark Gordon (Saving Private Ryan) will executive produce. The dark family drama is about a man who functions as a fixer for the rich and famous in Los Angeles.
