LONDON: Content Television’s Strictly Sexual: The Series, a spin-off of the hit indie feature film, has premiered in the U.S. through Hulu and the Hulu Plus subscription service.

The 6×30-minute series is a spin-off of the indie cult classic Strictly Sexual from Hyphenate Films. Content Television recently picked up the worldwide distribution rights for the series for broadcast and digital platforms. The show is co-created, produced and directed by Hyphenate Films’ co-founder Joel Viertel. Stevie Long, film and series writer for Strictly Sexual, returns to star in the new weekly show. The series launched on Hulu yesterday.

Viertel commented, “I’m excited to see Strictly Sexual: The Series debut on a premier digital platform like Hulu, and to give something back to the incredibly devoted American fans that made the movie such a hit and have been waiting for these characters to return."

Long added, “It’s that watershed moment when a scripted series, delivered on a digital platform, has as much cultural relevance as broadcast or network shows. The film version of Strictly Sexual has been extremely popular with audiences, so we expect the same eager response to the sitcom spinoff."

Jonathan Ford, the executive VP of digital acquisitions and distribution at Content Digital, said, “Hulu is an important platform to launch this show, because the film on which the series is based has built a significant following on the service.”
