MUNICH: Seven International has licensed BBC One the rights to produce its own version of the Belgian hit format Benidorm Bastards, with CPL Productions currently developing a pilot under the working title Off Their Rockers.

The hidden-camera series is already in the works for the U.S., with NBC ordering 12 half-hour episodes to be produced by Kinetic Content and hosted by Betty White. It has also been adapted in the Netherlands and sold to France, Spain, Germany, Scandinavia, Greece, Israel and South Korea, among others.

"First the U.S., now the U.K.; simply mind-blowing," said Henrik Pabst, director of international format acquisition and regional sales director for Benelux, Scandinavia and the U.K. at SevenOne. "No doubt, the show is one of the hottest comedy shows at the moment and we are absolutely thrilled to join forces with BBC One and CPL."

Murray Boland, creative director of CPL Productions said the format is "simply brilliant and has caused a sensation in the international marketplace. We’re delighted to be creating the U.K. version for the BBC and are sure that British audiences will take the show to their hearts."
