HELSINKI: Nordic Food Channel is a new service launching across Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark that focuses on Scandinavian food, cooking and healthy Nordic lifestyle.

The channel debuts first in Finland, in September, with the further rollouts planned for later in the year. Nordic Food Channel will spotlight ecological ingredients in making food, providing viewers with tips on how to make local and seasonal food better and make healthy choice related to their daily life. Social- and family-related themes will be seen throughout. Most of the programming will be sourced from the Nordic region, also using local talent.

Pal Milkovics is the CEO of Nordic Food Channel. He previously worked for Hungarian TV channels as a host, and has produced several hundred of hours of documentary. He has also been an editor in chief in two European TV channels. Sami Garam is the creative director and member of the board. He is a Finnish chef, known best from his own TV series, columns and other media appearances. Nordic Food Channel is owned by the management and an investor group.

"We get feedback from people all the time. They want to do better, more local and healthier food. That’s why we decided to build this channel," said Garam.

"At the moment we are setting up our offices, lining up partnerships and finding new colleagues. We are really excited about this and hope to get a good team of enthusiastic people to make it happen," added Milkovics.
