BBC Trust Chairman to Deliver RTS Fleming Memorial Lecture

LONDON: Lord Patten, the chairman of the BBC Trust, is to deliver the Royal Television Society’s (RTS) Fleming Memorial Lecture at the Royal Institution of Great Britain on July 6.

His lecture, The BBC: Old Values, New Technologies, will set out Patten’s vision for the BBC and examine the relevance of public-service broadcasting in today’s digital age. The Fleming Memorial Lecture is held in memory of Sir John Ambrose Fleming, a pioneer and advocate of broadcasting and the first president of the Television Society. Past speakers of the Fleming Memorial Lecture have included Stewart Purvis, Mark Thompson, Sir Michael Lyons, Sir Christopher Bland, Sir Howard Stringer, Trevor Phillips and Samir Shah.
