Fluent Media to Develop Telefe Catalogue for U.S.

MIAMI BEACH: Fluent Media Group (FMG) has inked a deal to develop and produce Telefe’s catalogue of TV series for the U.S. market.

FMG has signed development deals in the past year with Sony Pictures Television/Showtime, ABC Studios, Fox Television Studios and Lionsgate Television. Telefe, an Argentinian broadcaster and producer, has sold a range of formats into the American market, including Hermanos y Detectives, which was made into a pilot by ABC in 2009.

Raul Mateu, the head of FMG, said: “The U.S. market has a huge appetite for new ideas and Telefe is by far the premier producer of content in Argentina. We will strategically explore opportunities for their catalogue and find the best U.S. partners.”

Mateu continued: “The quality of production in Argentina is the best in all of Latin America and we know that there is a great interest from several networks in exploring opportunities.”

Fernando Varela, Telefe’s international business director, and Michelle Wasserman, the head of international business programming, formats and production services, stated: “We had great success in the market a couple of years back when Raul represented us as an agent and we are pleased to be working with him in this new capacity as we know that he truly respects and cares for our content. We believe in the potential that our products have in the U.S. Market. That is why this relation with FMG is strategic for us.”
