CANNES: Short- and long-form versions of Splash News TV are to be represented for Latin America and the U.S. Hispanic market by Somos Distribution.

Splash News secured the deal for its entertainment and celebrity news magazine format. Splash’s short-form programming, Splash News TV, had its 1 billionth stream this year and is now broadcast in more than 30 countries on the web, mobile and TV platforms. The weekly half-hour entertainment magazine format combines celebrity news with an exclusive look at stories happening around the world.

“Hollywood and the Spanish-speaking markets are increasingly relevant to each other with a huge cross over number of stars and a massive growth in audience numbers from North America all the way down to Argentina,” said Gary Morgan, the CEO of Splash. “Somos has the proven ability to tap into that the myriad domestic markets and serve up an exciting array of Splash’s Hollywood content with their own domestic entertainment programming for television.”

Luis Villanueva, the president and CEO of Somos Distribution, added: “Entertainment news is a type of content that is always sought after by the audience. Splash News is delivered in flexible formats and its freshness will be of instant appeal to our clients in the Spanish-speaking markets. Splash News TV fits the new style of entertainment news and we are very happy at having this product in our catalogue.”
