Corus Names New VP of TV & Programming Head

TORONTO: Corus Entertainment has named Maria Hale as VP of television and head of programming and production, effective April 4.

In her new role, Hale will lead the strategic direction for Corus’ TV programming decisions, including content production, acquisitions and distribution across Corus’ specialty and pay channels. She will report to Doug Murphy, the executive VP and president of television for Corus.

Prior to joining Corus, Hale was VP of content at TELUS, where she was responsible for TV and mobile content acquisition for linear and VOD. While with TELUS, the company’s mobile music service became number one in Canada.

Murphy said: “We’re excited to have Maria lead our talented programming team at Corus. Maria’s breadth of experience in the industry coupled with her significant managerial talents and strategic insights into the ever evolving entertainment landscape make her the ideal executive for this role.”
