LONDON: MTV U.K. has begun production in and around Newscastle on Geordie Shore, the first international adaptation of the MTV U.S. hit Jersey Shore

The show, which will follow the lives of a group of young Newcastle natives, or ‘Geordies’, as they live, work and party, is set to premiere sometime this year. The show will be executive produced by Steve Regan, editorial director at MTV UK, and Fiona O’Sullivan, head of factual at Lime Pictures.

"It’s fantastic that the U.K. is going to be the first international MTV territory to take inspiration from the cultural phenomenon that is Jersey Shore and re-imagine it for a U.K. audience," said Kerry Taylor, acting senior VP and director of television at MTV Networks UK & Ireland. "Newcastle is an amazing city with a culture and ethos of its own.  So while the location and cast will of course be new, viewers will absolutely relate to their trials and tribulations and ultimately welcome them into their homes, every week."

O’Sullivan added: “Lime Pictures are absolutely delighted to be working with MTV once again on this incredibly exciting project. We’ve already found some perfect characters to bring Geordie Shore to life and can’t wait to get filming on what we believe will become the next big, must-watch, reality show.”
