More Garfield on Offer

PARIS: A second season of The Garfield Show with 52 new episodes will be on offer for international buyers at MIPCOM from Mediatoon Distribution.

Season two launched last month in Ludo on France 3, where the series airs every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday morning. Since its premiere in the U.S. on Cartoon Network, The Garfield Show runs from Monday to Friday at 10:30 a.m. and on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.

The first season sold in more than 140 countries. A total of 104×11-minute episodes will be available for the first quarter of 2011.

Julien Borde, the head of children and youth programs at France Televisions, said: "The Garfield Show is very successfully fulfilling its ‘entertainment mission’ towards young kids and families on France Television’s channel France 3. The audience ratings for the first season have increased steadily since January 2009, thus positioning The Garfield Show amongst France Television’s most successful shows. This success is confirmed with the new episodes of the second season, on air since last August, and the show is now number one on France Television’s animation slot. The Garfield Show is also available on LudoWebTV. This webtv, part of France Television group, will also soon be offering the possibility to watch a few episodes in English, thus introducing Shakespeare’s language to young viewers."
