Banff Names Fiction Winners

BANFF: The 31st Banff World Television Festival and nextMEDIA have announced the winners for its Rockie Awards across fiction categories.

In the entertainment segment, Le Printemps de Melie (Molly in Springtime) won for best animation, while Curb Your Enthusiasm took the win for best comedy program. Bill Bailey’s Remarkable Guide to the Orchestra, from the U.K.’s Glassbox Productions, came out on top for the best music and variety program or series.

In the category for drama, In Treatment was named the winner for continuing series and serial program. The best TV movies was London River and best mini-series was Flesh and Bones. The soap opera Where is Elisa? from Chile’s TVN received a nod, as did the telenovela Cats Cradle from Brazil’s TV Globo.

The children, family and youth categories were broken down by programs for kids 2 and up and shows for those over 13. The award for best children’s program (2+) went to The Yellow House. Best youth program (13+) went to TeenNick HALO Awards.

There were also three awards for Francophone programs. Tout le monde en parle won for entertainment. Musee Eden won for fiction. La joute junior won for children’s.
