FCC Extends Comcast-NBCU Deadline

WASHINGTON, D.C.: The public comment period for the Comcast and NBC Universal joint venture has been extended by the FCC as it awaits more information from the two companies.

The FCC had initially set May 3 as the deadline for comments on Comcast’s proposed transaction to take control of NBCU in a joint venture with GE. The FCC now says that it still requires one report supporting the benefits of the transaction and another exploring the impact on the online video market. As such, FCC has now extended the deadline to 45 days after the two reports are filed. "We believe this action will ensure that all parties will have sufficient time to review and comment on the applications, including these supplemental materials," said the FCC order.
