NGCI to Spotlight Tiger Poaching

WASHINGTON, D.C.: National Geographic Channels International (NGCI) and Red Earth Studio have teamed up to produce Inside: The Tiger Trade, a one-hour special that investigates the illegal underworld of tiger poaching.

The special, which will premiere internationally on National Geographic Channel in May, goes undercover with the Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA), an international organization dedicated to exposing environmental crime. The group will investigate tiger poaching, a highly organized trade that is systematically wiping out the world’s tiger population.

Sydney Suissa, the executive VP of content for NGCI, said, "With only some 3,500 tigers left in the wild, time is running out for one of the world’s most majestic animals. NGCI is proud to partner with Red Earth Studio on this powerful documentary, which calls attention to this shocking crime. We hope to raise awareness about a conservation issue central to the National Geographic brand."

Julien Mignonac, co-founder and executive producer of Red Earth Studio, added, “This series is a rare and important insight into the important work that the EIA does to combat this illegal trade. Red Earth Studio is delighted to be working with NGCI on this, as they share the same vision for the series and are dedicated in factually bringing forth the eco crimes hitting our planet.”
