DOC Takes Exclusive 11-Film Package

NASHVILLE: The Documentary Channel (DOC) has finalized an exclusive U.S. television licensing deal with The Film Sales Company for a package of 11 documentary films.

The multi-year deal includes such films as Iraq in Fragments, Body of War, JUMP!, Paper Clips, Beyond Conviction and Who Needs Sleep. The package will also showcase the U.S. TV premieres of High Score, Shoot Down and The Trials of Michael Jackson. Iraq in Fragments kicks off the telecasts on March 29 at 8 p.m. as part of the network’s month-long nightly prime-time tribute to documentaries that have won or been nominated for an Academy Award.

"We are thrilled to offer our viewers this wonderful package of films from The Film Sales Company,” said James Ackerman, the president and CEO of DOC. “These documentaries cover a broad range of topics from victims of crimes facing their offenders in Beyond Conviction to experiencing the intensity of the World Championship jump rope competition in JUMP! as well as award winners like Iraq in Fragments and Paper Clips."

“The Documentary Channel is a perfect home for this great slate,” added Andrew Herwitz, the president of The Film Sales Company. “We are pleased to continue to make the work of these extraordinary filmmakers available to audiences nationwide.”
